Program Mission
The mission of the Indiana Master Naturalist program is to bring together natural resources specialists with adult learners to foster an understanding of Indiana's plants, water, soils and wildlife, and promote volunteer service in local communities.
Program Description (include how it meets membership criteria)
Our Purpose:
• Provide an introduction to Hoosier natural resources through the eyes of resource professionals and experts in the field
• Provide an educational opportunity to individuals 18 years or older
• Provide an opportunity for class participants to establish a short or long-term partnership with a natural resources agency or a local organization involved in natural resource management by volunteering as part of the class
• Provide a financially self-supporting program

The Indiana Master Naturalist Program is an organization that provides adults with hands-on opportunities to learn about our Hoosier natural resources. This includes ways to then share that knowledge through volunteer service performed for local natural resource agencies.
Program Partners
Resource Conservation and Development Councils, Indiana Soil and Water Conservation Districts, Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, City and County Park Districts, Local Land Trusts, and other similar organizations.
Curriculum (general objectives and topics, types of instructors, and planned time frame)
Each course contains eight three-hour sessions, consisting of one geology/soils, one water, two botany, two zoology, one people and natural resources, and one miscellaneous. Workshop outlines must be pre-approved by the Indiana Master Naturalist (IMN) Advisory Council.
Describe the service component of your program
Each student must complete one hour of service per one hour of coursework. Service hours must be spent directly benefiting a natural resource agency.
