This dynamic conference is for professionals and partner organizations that coordinate, administer, or host training and volunteer programs in natural resource conservation, education, and outreach or for those interested in developing similar programming. This year the conference will be held in Columbia, Maryland. There will be many opportunities to explore the natural, cultural and historic sites in and around the Chesapeake Bay area. During this conference, you can expect to gain knowledge from a diverse range of programs, network with colleagues, and obtain valuable tools to enhance your existing program or develop a new one.

PRESENTATIONS

The Call for Presentations has been EXTENDED. Submissions are due July 16, 2019.

LODGING

The conference will take place at the Sheraton Columbia Town Center Hotel in Columbia, MD. Rooms have been blocked at a special conference rate until 9/06/19.

Room Rates

Lodge: Double $119/night + tax

Tower: $135/night + tax

NOTE: The above rates are offered, on a space-available basis, to attendees 3 days prior and 3 days after the dates of the conference.

TRANSPORTATION

Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) is the nearest airport to the conference hotel, about a 20-30 minute Lyft/Uber ride. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) is about an hour away. Our conference hotel does not provide airport shuttles.

Transportation to both field trips is included with registration. 

CALL FOR POSTERS 

Please consider submitting a proposal to present a poster at our “Program Marketplace” poster session.  This is a great opportunity to talk one-on-one with colleagues about your work. 

Poster proposals are due by August 15, 2019. Participants will be notified of acceptance approximately August 29, 2019.

All submissions can be made through the Call for Presentations Google Form.

OTHER CONFERENCE NOTES

>> In addition to informative program presentations, posters, networking time, and the ANROSP Annual Member Meeting, attendees can look forward to speed dating (get to know your fellow attendees!), silent auction, and TWO great field trips:

1. Wednesday: Chesapeake Bay. With stops at Adkins Arboretum and Phillip Merrill Environmental Center, get insight onto the local flora, fauna of the Bay area, as well as insights into the impacts of human activity on the Bay's water quality and biodiversity.

2. Thursday: Robinson Nature Center. Visit with local Maryland Master Naturalists to hear about their work, tour the LEED building, extensive grounds, and view a NatureSphere show.

>> Bringing a Guest? Your guests are welcome to join the conference group for field trips and/or meals. Register for field trips through the regular registration page. For meals, contact Andrea Lorek Strauss, astrauss@umn.edu, for customized meal options. 

>> There are several optional, self-organized outings in the area available before or after the conference. Indicate your interest during registration and we'll help groups connect! Destinations include National Aquarium, Patuxent Research Refuge, & Dinosaur Park
