Join us in New Mexico for this year's dynamic conference for professionals and partner organizations that coordinate, administer, or host training and volunteer programs in natural resource conservation, education, and outreach or for those interested in developing similar programming!

This year's conference will be a traveling event that will start and end in Albuquerque, NM. This new dynamic format will allow us to have a better understanding of the ecology, geography, and diversity of the region. Our route includes the Rio Grande Nature Center, Bachechi Open Space, Valles Caldera, Bandelier National Monument, Randall Davey Audubon Center and Santa Fe, NM.
During this conference, you can expect to gain knowledge from a diverse range of programs, network with colleagues, and obtain valuable tools to enhance your existing program or develop a new one.

Conference fee covers: Two nights of lodging at Ghost Ranch resort, lunch on Tuesday, all meals on Wednesday and Thursday, breakfast and lunch on Friday, transportation to all the conference venues, and four full days of conference activities including site tours of six different natural areas and environmental education centers.
Because of the nature of this year's traveling conference, members and non-members are expected to use conference transportation during the conference.
Costs for which you will be responsible: meals and lodging on Monday and Tuesday (depending on your arrival time), dinner on Tuesday, and dinner and lodging on Friday. You are responsible for making your lodging arrangements at the Old Town Hotel Albuquerque. The group rate is $89 per night and the hotel can be reached at (800)237-2133. Optional add-on: There will be optional field trips offered on Saturday, September 24th for an extra fee. Saturday field trip registration and costs will be announced later. Optional field trips will include:
1) Morning trip to Sandia Peak Tramway: A trip on the Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway transports you above deep canyons and breathtaking terrain a distance of 2.7 miles. See some of nature’s more dramatic beauty unfold before you. The desert skies produce a spectacular array of color, and your vantage point from the observation deck atop 10,378 foot Sandia Peak in the Cibola National Forest affords an 11,000 square-mile panoramic view of the Rio Grande Valley and the Land of Enchantment. Numerous trails can be accessed from the top of the tram, as well as a full service restaurant. http://www.sandiapeak.com/ (Trip located in Albuquerque). Schedule: Meet at 8:30 a.m., travel to tram and arrive by 9:00 a.m. Travel via tram, go on a short hike at the top of the Sandia Mountains, and eat lunch. Return to original destination by 12-1 p.m. Cost: $30. Lunch on your own (not included in cost).
2) Day trip to Whitfield Conservation Area: Whitfield Conservation Area includes moist meadows, wetlands, food plots for migrating and resident birds and wildlife, and native vegetation in riparian buffer zones for wildlife. The Whitfield Wildlife Conservation Area attracts a diverse group of tourists, birdwatchers, hikers, and students who want to learn about wetlands ecology in an otherwise arid place. http://www.whitfieldwildlife.org/. Schedule: Meet at 8 a.m. and travel to WCA, around 45 minutes. Visit site, bird watch and have lunch. Return to Albuquerque by 12 p.m. Cost: $30. Lunch on your own (not included in cost).
3) Day trip to Acoma Pueblo: Acoma Pueblo's Sky City is situated on a 370 foot high mesa. This is the homeland for the Acoma people. There are 300 homes and structures on the mesa which are owned by Acoma women. They are passed down in their families. Hour-long guided tours take visitors to this amazing place. You will see the ancient Pueblo, the Mission and have a chance to shop for Acoma pottery. The beautiful new Cultural Center has an Acoma pottery museum, cafe and gift shop.

Call for Presentations - Presentations on Environmental Education, Interpretation, Citizen Science, and an array of topics related to program management are being considered. All of our member programs are outstanding and it is time to be nationally recognized for your efforts. We encourage you to nominate yourself, your program, group or volunteers for these awards. RFP to Host the 2017 Annual Conference
ANROSP is requesting proposals from eligible programs to host the 2017 annual conference. Potential host sites are those that have an ANROSP member program in good standing, a commitment to provide local support during the year of the conference, and will provide at least one person to serve on the conference committee and lead the local arrangements committee. Also, states that have hosted past ANROSP conferences include Arizona, Colorado, Minnesota, Texas, and West Virginia, Illinois, Utah, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Nevada and Tennessee. RFPs are due August 19, 2016.
ANROSP is currently seeking nominations for the annual election to be held in New Mexico. Consider serving on the board or as an officer. Nominate yourself or someone you know. Our Board Member at Large, Michelle Prysby will be sending you a nomination request.
ANROSP operates entirely on volunteer service. There are no paid staff to help with important tasks like maintaining the membership database, organizing the annual conference, or writing newsletters. Each year, we aim to build the membership of ANROSP’s committees to accomplish the mission of the organization.

The Finance Committee is responsible for developing and reviewing fiscal procedures, a fundraising plan, and an annual budget with staff and other Board members. If you are great with numbers and managing project budgets, this is a great committee to serve on!
The Elections Committee is responsible for seeking out new Board candidates and maintaining a geographic diversity as well as balance of representation of member programs. If you would like to get to know ANROSP’s members and help find leaders for the organization, please join us.
The Conference Committee is responsible for planning all aspects of the annual conference. This is a great chance to help plan the one big event that brings us together in a beautiful part of the country each year.
Communications & Marketing Committee
This committee is responsible for maintaining the ANROSP web site, newsletter, and other communications and marketing needs. It’s easy, but very important behind the scenes work.
This committee manages ANROSP’s membership, approval of programmatic membership applications, dues, and renewal notices. Help us continue to bring new members and perspectives to ANROSP from exciting outreach programs from across the country.
Program Resources Committee
This committee is responsible for finding and sharing opportunities for programs, professional development, or training; curriculum development and review; service initiatives; program start-up packages; and training workshops for mentoring teams. We also manage the monthly Mentor Conference Calls and Annual Awards.
